Adam, you bought your 4runner for you not for him. There are a lot of great members here with a lot of legit experience, more than just opinions. Hope you dont feel discouraged.
I myself had some exhaust damage a few years ago and needed to replace it. I went with the Gibson system and have loved it ever since. Its a nice free flowing system with a tolerable rumble. It may be worth looking into a whole system rather than just the muffler. Also, youtube sound clips. I think there are a few 4runner clips on there that could help you narrow your search.
