Engine had been idling low (500rpm and less) on occasion so I took a look at the engine and found a partially disconnected air intake hose leading to the TB. I put it back together and thought I had solved the problem.
Now, the engine will less frequently (than it had before) idle at low rpm, so maybe I took care of some of the problem but not all of it. I am thinking that maybe when I fully connected the hose it did not seal all the way, but it only idles low when the car is first started and then goes back to normal.
I seem to have narrowed down the problem to when I let the starter first engage and then quickly back off letting the car start. So yesterday I quickly started the car, turned the car off, and did the same thing again with low idling results. However, I then turned the car off, engaged the starter for a just a half second longer and the initial idle was much higher (~1500rpm).
So what's going on with my car?
I know it may sound finicky but I think that this is something that can be done by myself so I really want to go about doing it the best way possible. Even if that means using some sort of tape to seal the vacuum or dismantling the air intake system to clean the MAF and TB.
Thanks in advance.
