Low hanging undercarriage?

imp:so i took off my running boards and noticed just how low the fuel tank sits, ive also noticed on some others' 2nd gen 4rnrs that theirs seem to sit up underneath higher, is their a way to reduce the amount of low hanging items underneath so i dont have to look at them or worry about bottoming out on them?

lift lift and lift.

suspension lift for geometry and the long run, body lift to easily clear tires, and larger tires; which can provide the necessary ground clearance aswell as traction, so long as you choose a properly aggressive tires. I like MTRs, but will have to wait for my a/ts to wear out till i grab some. have fun!

edit- if you dont want to see the underpants, than dont body lift.....

do you have any pics of yours? i have been thinking about pulling the running boards off mine because they are ugly and are going to be trashed from offorad, but i dont want to see fram rails and mounting brackets and all that other crap hanging down underneath the body

I was hesitant for awhile because they protected the paint and i didnt want to see the undercarriage either but i like the more aggressive look without them and may even paint some of the low hanging items to make em easier on the eye.
I eventually want to get rocksliders too, but i figured if i want to put the running boards back on, I always can still do that, and they wont get ruined sitting in the garage:girl:

yes it is, i hate the look of it, think Im gonna take all skid plates off and paint them though?

i wouldnt. much easyer to punch a hole in that tank. thats just my opinion though. love the black by the way.

I see no reason why your tank would sit lower unless you have a signifigant amount of rear end sag. In that case you would have to lift the truck for any additional clearance, but i can tell you that i have slammed those skid plates pretty hard and they are not going anywhere. Its worth adding that i have a good amount of rear sag and no lift. I just took my runners off and it looks way better. also lifting the truck isnt going to make them less visible, in fact you will see more of them

Of course Id put the skids back on after I painted them...I dont know if that would just draw more attention to the lowness of it all though.
My 4RNR sits level and all, I figured it out though, because mines black the undercarriage just stands out more than a lighter colored T4R or something, wish there was a way to lift the tank and midship area, then even stock clearance would be nice, noticed lately that 3rd gen and on doesnt have this issue, must have a wider flatter tank.

I just took off my running boards and noticed the low hanging tank. Here is mine with a lighter color t4r. Can't really see the tank that well, but you can get the idea. Also does your exhaust extend that low down?

My exhaust is actually even more noticable and a little lower as it is new, Ill have to get a couple daylight side profiles of each side, the side with the fuel tank is really noticable, looks like a storage box that would normally go on top of the roof...i still think its less noticable on the lighter colors.

I definitely notice my tank a lot more. It's worth it to me though. I like the look a lot better and it will be better when I go wheeling. I did notice though that I have deep grooves in the body where the front running board covers were. I don't know if anyone else has them, but I'll put some more pics up tomorrow.
