Low idle after changing plugs

Just changed my spark plugs. Engine idled fine while warming up in Park, but when I took a drive I noticed my idle has dropped big-time while stopped in Drive. Anybody know a possible cause...short of having to check each plug again??

Less of a problem but in case anyone knows -power windows and roof seem to have lost the one-touch open/close function. I had the battery disconnected for a while.

The windows just need to be reinitialized. Basically hold down the button and open them all the way and reclose them. Then the auto stuff should work. This information is also in your manual. The idle I am not sure about. When you say dropped....from what to what? My V8 idles around 600-800 normally.

It almost stalled which is why I noticed it. Seems to hover around 600 which is definitely lower than before. I drive an 03 V6. I've since checked the connectors and they're in snug and wires all seem okay (on the end connecting to the plug housing).

Can't help with the V6...since I don't know where it idles. If you did disconnect the battery you could drive it for a little bit and see if the computer resets itself. The ECU "learns" the driver's patterns and when you disconnect the battery it resets. If it almost stalled though I would be a little more concerned. Hopefully it is that simple, unless someone else with a V6 has had a similar problem?

05 v6 - low idle after spark plug change

After having the dealer replace the plugs on my 05 v6 4runner, my idle speed after warm-up is down to 500. I can feel the truck shake a bit feeling rough while idling at a stop light. I was wondering if there anything I can do before calling the dealer.... I hate dealing with the service department of the dealer.

One thought I had was whether I should try disconnecting the battery to see if it resets the idle speed. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Based on what my local Toyota shop told me the idle needs to be re-set if the battery is disconnected for a while, which is usually the case with replacing plugs. It sounds like something your dealer/shop should've done for you since they replaced the plugs.

Thanks for your reply. The dealer near me is a Toyota "President Award Winner"... yeah right! Can't be for their service though. After they were done replacing the plugs, they returned the 4Runner and I could smell McDonald's in the car(French fry). I guess the guy was hungry and forgot to reset the idle (not sure).

I wish I could install a "Nanny cam" under the hood to see how the treat the car when you are not looking. Zero trust!
