Low Power Bad MPG - Need more ideas

Aerodynamics with lift?

Probably something you've already taken into consideration, what about aerodynamics? I noticed you have a lift kit. When I put my SS 7.2 kit on, cruising on the highway became noticeably harder. This was with skinny 33's already installed. My guess is aerodynamics, more air flow underneath the truck is bad for aerodynamics. She will cruise decent in the 60's because the wind resistance is light enough, in the 70's she struggles because the power isnt there to fight the wind in the 2100-2500 RPM range, but when I'm over 2500 RPM going 80+ she does alright, I'm guessing because that's where we start to dip into our upper horse power band.

Lift isn't on yet. Just the tires. And it doesn't like to cruise in OD above 60. It just hunts gears above there.

Have you had your cat spayed or neutered?

That's about all you haven't done.

No but the dog has been. Kitty will have to wait until I get back from Florida. Tomorrow is Friday and if the weather holds out I'm taking the Z to work.

I get my best mileage when I stick to parkways and doing a max 55mph.

With my tires and 4:30 gearing, my rig loves being at about 50mph. OD and lockup kick in and she cruises at 1700ish rpms.

I haven't noticed much gear hunting, but I don't live in a particularly hilly area (Ottawa is mainly a Valley).

If I do a lot of this range of cruising on a tank, I get high 15s MPG.

3" lift an 33" BFG KMs, no armor/bumpers

I got 15.8 driving 80 with the cruise set in 3rd gear. I'd kill myself driving 55 on an 80mph road. Mine hates 2000-2500. Above and below she's happy. But that range she loathes. It's like she's begging me to loosen the reins on her and let her run. If I have my way this year I'll give her a lung transplant to really breathe then.

Luckily, we have no 80MPH roads up here. Our fastest cross-province Highway (basically our version of the Interstate) has a speed limit of 62MPH (100KMH).

Toll road by the office is 80 and south of my house turns to 85. Interstate through town is 55 but you can never get over 20 due to traffic. Roads to the deer lease and wheeling places are anywhere from 55-75. It's a safety issue to me to not be able to keep up with the flow of traffic.

Sure, as I said check that FPR hose for gas. To check the FPR, get a MightVac and connect it to the hose and put some vacuum on it. It should hold indefinitely. If it doesn't or if you pull some gas through, you FPR is bad. Secondly, put a vacuum gauge on the manifold and check for any low or fluctuating readings (with the engine running of course). I don't have all the tables in front of me but you can tell a hell of a lot from engine vacuum at different rpms and loads.
A couple questions. How many miles on your rig? Is it Cali emissions (2 cats) or Federal emissions (1 cat) Reason I ask is if you have Cali emissions, your rig has 2 O2 sensors (the front is actually an A/F sensor) which could affect performance. Also, when in Park, and you rev the motor, does it have any problem getting to higher RPMs? Any backfiring?

Back from Florida and back to work. I tried to pull a vacuum in the FRP and couldn't get one to hold at all so it looks like I'm adding that to the list of things to fix along with the heater core.

There's your vacuum leak right there and an issue with fuel regulation at the same time. Good luck, hope that fixes it.
