Low Transmission Fluid Temperature?

I just got my Bluetooth OBDII reader this weekend, and bought the Torque Pro app so I can track statistics on my 4Runner. Today I finally got it all up and running, and while I was driving, I noticed that the transmission fluid temperature seemed pretty low. It was pretty cold today (mid 30s), but even then, I exported the data from one of my trips taken once the car was warmed up (drove a while, parked for a few minutes, started up again), and The highest transmission fluid temp I recorded was 150 degrees F, and the average was about 140 degrees F. The lowest temperature was about 127 degrees F, and that was most likely while I was on the freeway for a short time.

My impression was that the transmission should stay at about 150 at least, so I'm a little concerned now. I am still running the stock radiator and cooler -- I started to install a B&M 70264 but ended up not getting it finished this weekend so it's not yet hooked up. Is it possible that the bypass thermostat is bad? Is it located in the radiator, or in the transmission itself? The car isn't running any differently but I don't want to do any damage to the transmission this winter by running it too cold.

take 127* water and poor it on your hand... tell me that thats not hot enough... cooler trany fluid temps = longer trany life, dont worry about it

If it stayed below 100, then you would have problems. Install the 70264 and drive. You are fine.

All sounds well given ambient temps and driving conditions. I'd be willing to bet you'd get close to 200 on a hot day pulling a hill with the current setup.
