Updated photo 10/30/15. Now has a lift as well as new tires and wheels.

Figured might as well create a thread for my new (to me) 4Runner. I picked it up this past Wednesday. I traded in a 2011 Lexus CT200h and an 04 Tundra. The primary reason for the trade was to save money. I have always been a fan of 4Runners, my mom has owned two of them and I loved them both.

Here is the 4Runner, only thing I have done to it so far is tinted windows.

Here are the two vehicles that I traded in.

The 4Runner's primary job is going to be carrying the bike on the left to the race track.

I'm stuck at home sick but I managed to walk outside and do a couple of quick "mods". I haven't gotten the nerve up to do the mirror lights yet.

So I have officially decided that the factory speakers in the 4Runner SUCK! Searching the forum it seems like the Infinity 32.9 Kappa speakers were a pretty popular option for the dash. Unfortunately they are no longer available. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you. It is a ML (53 compact). It is equivalent to a 55 -56 traditional. It is my Winter bike. My primary bike is a Parless Z5 SLi.

I just used a piece of 1/2" plywood, some speaker carpet, and a mount similar to this one.

Well a few days ago I installed new front speakers, both in the dash and in the front doors. I went with JBL GTO328's for the dash and GTO638's for the door. I had read that the factory speakers were two ohm, that was the primary reason that I went with these speakers.

Unfortunately after I installed everything and turned it on it has some popping, sounds like clipping. I then decided to check the ohm load on the original speakers. Come to find out the original speakers were 4 ohm.

Anyway, I will be removing these speakers and going a different route. My new speakers (and some other goodies) should arrive on Monday. I won't have time to install everything until next Friday. I can't wait to see how it sounds once I finish it.

Door and dash speakers were very easy to install. I just wish I had purchased the correct speakers.

I'm very happy with them. I haven't had LED's in any other vehicle to compare them to but I think they look great.

Well the temperatures got up into the upper 30's today so I figured I would get started on my install. My plans were to just run some wires and call it a day. Once I got started though plans changed.

First off was the power wire. I was really happy with how easy this was to do. I need to pick up some more flex loom in the near future.

Fused 11" from the battery.

Plenty of room to run the power wire down the passenger side.

It was actually one of the easier cars I have done as far as getting the wires into the doors.

Running the wires up to the dash locations for the tweeters was pretty easy as well.

Next was tapping into the factory head unit speaker outputs. I may redo the wiring later and go with solder instead of the caps.

Three sets of speaker wires running down the driver's side. Two sets going back to the AudioControl LC2i, one set running from the amp to the driver's side front speakers.

Door speakers installed. I know there are much better speakers out there but for the price Alpine Type R's are tough to beat.

Tweeters installed in the dash. I'll play around with aiming them later on.
