Another fun day working on the stereo system. I was having some problems with clipping so I decided to go with an after market head unit after all. I must say after finishing the install I am very glad that I did. My only complaint is that the factory steering wheel controls for the phone don't work.

I went with a Kenwood DDX-372BT deck, a Pioneer ND-BC6 back up camera, and an Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control interface.

First step, wiring harness. All soldered and heat shrinked.

Next was mounting the camera. I went with mounting it on the hitch. I figured if it is good enough for Randyman it is good enough for me. I really wish that there was an adapter to allow me to use the factory camera but apparently there isn't.

I ran the wires through the same grommet that the inverter wires go through (also thanks to the advice from Randyman). I had to loosen up the rear panel but I did not have to remove it.

The wires for the camera, remote turn on, and the wire to go to the back up light to turn on the camera all run down the passenger side.

Apparently I forgot to take a photo of the passenger side so here is a picture of the driver's side showing the RCA cables. For now I am running some cheaper cables, that may change down the road.

I've got to be honest, the Scosche Installation Kit was a bit of a pain in the ass. The main problem was removing the air vents from the factory mount. Once I figured that out it wasn't too bad.

Here is the OEM deck beside the Kenwood.

Finally, all installed and back together. I do have to take it back out tomorrow to install the antenna adapter and the USB adapter. Sonic told me they were sending me the antenna adapter with my order, I guess they forgot. I ordered a USB adapter but managed to order the wrong one. Oh yeah, I also have to hook the factory deck back up for a minute so I can remove the CD that I left in it. Oops.

I also finished the flex loom on my power wire under the hood.

Okay, I'm to the point that I hate the running boards. Are the N-Fabs pretty much the way to go? I won't be doing any serious off roading if that matters.

Well until I decide on N-Fabs or something else I decided to just remove the factory running boards. It looks so much better.

Spent a few hours sound deadening the 4Runner. The midbass sounds much better and it no longer sounds like a rattle trap out the outside when the bass hits.

what did you use to keep the fuse block from moving on top of the fuse box?

Screws. There are mounting holes on the fuse block under the wire.

I didn't use any sealant but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

My new wheels arrived today, now just waiting to receive the Bilstein 5100's and rear Daystar spacers. I'll be getting the new tires towards the end of the month, beginning of next month.

Nice wheels, I'm debating replacing my OEM 20" with smaller wheels so I can get more aggressive tires too.

I was bored so I cut out some decals.

Now I have to decide which style I want to use to cover up the center cap on my wheels.

Because this "8" isn't going to cut it.

Time for a quick update. I went with Bilstein 5100's all the way around. The fronts I set to 2.5". The rear I went with Daystar 1.5" spring spacers. For wheels I went with Level 8 MK6's with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 285/70R17's.

I also went with the front inner fender mod and removed the front mud flaps.
