Lower Ball Joint OEM Part Number

I scoured the search but could not find a definitive answer for 4th gen OEM ball joint part numbers. For some reason these are also not available in the suspension sections of Village Toyota and Toyota Parts Overstock. It will allow you buy every suspension component *except* the ball joints.

And, hell, if anyone could humor me by referring a source to buy them from online? I'd like to not have to pay full price at the dealer if I can help it.

3rd gen ball joint assemblies can be purchased separately, but not 4th?

Is it possible that the 4th gen LCA assemblies come with the ball joints already installed? Is that why I can't find them anywhere?

That's the way I understand it. I looked about 6 months ago. You can't get lower ball joints by themselves. There are third party ball joints you can use if you're okay with that.

Well that's reassuring. The shop replaced the LCAs last week with OEM parts, so I presume they may have included LBJs, as well, which means I may be able to mark that one off the list. Will crawl underneath for a closer look tomorrow. :roll:

Do you mind letting me know how much the LCA replacement install was? Did a dealership do the work?

Im in need of LBJs and weighing all my options.

my new oem lower control arms cost me 600 bucks at shop price, which is 30 percent off of list, so assume about 750 or 800 for the arms your price. now if youre gonna have someone do the work for you factor in another 4 to 6 hours of labor at anywhere between 80 and 100 dollars an hour. its easily a 1200 dollar job all said and done.

Yeah it is not a cheap job if you're paying someone else to do it. I had a few other things done - right front axle seal replaced, headlight restoration, etc. - but the LCAs were by far the most expensive job. The dealer did it, and I think that component was about $1,500. That included new cam bolts and an alignment.

A cheaper alternative as mentioned is to replace LCA bushings and ball joints individually, buy also as observed it's difficult to find OEM ball joints by themselves, and long term reliability of aftermarket joints is mixed.

For posterity it appears that the OEM LCA assemblies (48068-60010 & 48069-60010) come complete with the ball joint and bushings. :amen:
