I noticed today that one of my lower ball joint boots has a cut in it, and I can see where the grease has been leaking out. I have been planning on replacing them when I go home in about a week. The problem is I didn't know that there was a hole, or that grease had been coming out. I checked and their isn't any play when the wheel is jacked up and shaken from top to bottom, so that is good. I have a 6 hour, 300 some mile trip back home. What are the chances of me making it back without an issue? I have seen these things break and it isn't pretty, but I dont know when I could do it within the next week. Well I guess it is more of an issue getting a Toyota ball joint than installing it. I haven't noticed any play in the steering either. I feel like I might be stupid by not changing it before the trip... I was also wondering if I should change the Upper ball joints if they don't look bad? Have they been known to fail as often?
