LR transparent hood

You guys hear about land rover's upcoming "transparent hood" tech? To debut at the New York auto show next week, using front mounted cameras and a smart projection windshield. Sounds interesting.

Yeah, saw it on Autoblog. The only time I can see it being useful is when you're coming up a steep hill climb and don't know what's there. Otherwise just watch the terrain ahead of you before it's obscured by your hood and go by feel. Switch off your targeting computer and use the Force, Luke!

So when you LR breaks down, you can quickly see which engine component has failed, without even having to open the hood?!?! What will they think of next!

pretty bad ass. I couldnt see the need in my 4R but in my Jeep I have left a few shit stains on the seat no knowing what i am dropping into....

That would be pretty trick for some crawling too where wheel placement is key. Nothing I need, but it is a sweet looking idea!

Who the hell can see that much of their hood? My head would have to be stuck through the windshield to have that viewing angle.

That'd be cool until you catch a rock on the freeway and have to replace the windshield.
