Has anybody used this on a leaking steering gear box? Any luck or is it junk?

JUNK.
only way to fix a leak is to fix it right.
why not just put sawdust in your tranny fluid when its slipping or just put a egg in the coolant to stop a pin hole leak or better yet copper dust.

im sorry but i hate SCAMS
fix it right or go home in my opinion

The only time stuff like that should be used is when you NEED to get home. They should only be temp fixes....Ive had to do the egg thing before on a friends xj to get it out of the woods. .

I agree, do not use it. It might even make things worse. "Stop leak" products just swell up the rubber and whatnot but eventually it shrinks back down causing more leaks.

It does not work. I used it as a band aid until I could afford to get my power steering pump replaced. It did slow the leak down a little, but does not stop it.

It's a band aid. It will work for a while by causing seals to swell a bit, but it's not a cure.

I guess I should have clarified more, I was wanting to know if it would help for a week until I had a chance to get the new box and install it. I'm quite aware that it will not repair anything. I just need it to hold on until I'm on days off to fix it.

Well we had somebody dump a few gallons of oil on the enginste room floor a while back so our fire chief said no working on engines or oil changes inside anymore. He is cool with other projects but anything that'll leak fluids is frowned upon. But, I got the leveling kit put on last night so its all good!

Depends on how much it's pissing and where from. my steering box was pissing out of the side and I just kept on puttin fluid in it (1 bottle every 2 days haha) untill I fixed it 4 days later. I got one from a junkyard for $40 and it's worked perfect since. And just a reminder, no matter what tire size you have, and especially if they're oversized, NEVER turn your steering wheel when your not moving (on pavement). It puts a ton of stress on all of your steering components because they're working twice as hard. :lookout:

Yes, it will if the problem is not too bad to begin with.
I've used it before, and do carry a bottle for emergencies.
