So i got a free set of snow tires on factory Toyota wheels. My aftermarket wheels use different lug nuts. I just needed simple tapered factory lug nuts to fit my '86. Found them online for about $1 each, but figured I'd give the local shops first crack at taking my money. Plus no wait time.
Cheapest quote i got was $5 each!!! Whoa-Nelly!! One shop said they could "Order them" for $10 EACH!!! Jeepers Creepers!!!
Do they not have the same internet that WE ALL have????
Anyway, I decided to call the local junkyard. They said I was welcome to poke around and look. Well, I found all the lug nuts I needed and an extra lug wrench, and the fella tells me " Ahhh, just take 'em."
So I ended up buying them a 12 pack of beer for their kindness.
I knew lug nuts were not that hard to get, I just had to keep plugging away and found them from an actual honest Joe.
I am most baffled from the discrepency between the internet prices I found and what shops told me they could find.
I knew they were asking me to bend over, and smiling while they did it.
