Luggage rack removal

Has anyone removed their 04 luggage rack? I'm looking to trade mine for a silver one so I'm wondering how hard it is to remove and how much it weighs for shipping.

it's been done. try the search as I know some ppl have chanced from silver to black/blk to silver.

i know the end caps come off and then just unscrew (i think).
