Have you ever actually used one for more than 10 minutes, or are are you just stereotyping? Because last time I checked I'm not a kid, and neither is anyone in my dept at work.

People are free to choose what they want to use, I have no issue with that, but these off the wall comments are just silly.
 
Being in IT I like Windows (PC) because it keeps me employed, the inherent problems and upkeep of Windows desktop and server OS pretty much guarantees me a job. So, I usually tell people I drive a garbage truck (Windows PC) for a living but I drove home in my 4Runner (MAC).:D

I have been a Mac user for 1.5 years already and will never turn back. I have an iPhone, iPod, and Macbook Pro. I don't miss Windows!!!
 
i have a macbook but im running VMware fusion so i also have Windows Professional- its great having both always running, i get the best of both worlds!!
 
I have a PC and my wife have a mac. I prefer the PC specially if when we travel. We have had experiences where the mac can't connect to the hotel's internet (wired or wireless) access. We always ended up bringing my laptop. She also uses my laptop when she needs to work from home.

She bought her powerbook for almost $2Gs while mine I got on sale for $450 and it gets more mileage :D
 
Always been a PC guy and having a friend who's been an IT for over 15 years ensures my PC has always been trouble free but I am an iPod guy but that's where my Apple loyalty stops.

Apple still does control over 80% of the MP3 player market so the competition is still slow in making up ground.

Apple does make awesome computers but at double the cost to match the goods you get in a PC and I just spent the last 3 months comparing alot of laptops before I just decided to simply stick with another PC.
 
quad boot = windows suite, osx, ubuntu, unix

I mainly support x86/PC, because that's what the corporate world uses.
 
Posting this on my dell laptop that is 7 years old. Everything is only as good as the amount of care you give it. When properly maintained a PC will run day and night without a hitch. That's the problem though- people have no clue how to maintain them. And as the number of Mac fanboys grows out there someone may actually give a damn and start writing viruses for them too, cause if your a **** enough to send out a virus would you send it to 10 (PC's) people or 1 (Mac)?. The vast majority of Mac owners won't know how to properly maintain their Macs and you'll see the same problems as people with PC's. It's a simple numbers game. Once it evens out it won't matter and all the fanboy talk on either side will still mean nothing.

However, since PC's update the same operating system that they had since the stone ages, every virus ever written (millions) can infect PC's now. Macs update their operating system so often that viruses would be rendered useless.

You are correct about maintaining them, but macs don't need to be maintained. You are basically comparing a puppy to a well trained dog.
 
I prefer Mac for my laptop needs and a PC for my desktop.

Mac's strength is in its quality (and I don't mean HD see below for more on that) and construction. I have a 2YO Macbook Pro, but I want the new unibody chassis Macbook Pro sooooooo bad. It is a tank and so slick looking. If the PC laptop makers would get their head out of their asses and construct a thin, strong, non plastic laptop with back-lit keys, they would take my business away from a mac as a laptop.

As far as crashing and Hard Drives, Mac isn't all that much better. I have had 3 hard drive crashes from my Mac laptops in the last 4 years. With laptops whether Mac or PC the Hard Drive is the evil. Laptops take abuse and lots of movement. The wave of the future for laptops is a Solid State HD, that will increase the reliability of both Mac and PC laptops. and stop a lot of HD crashes.
 
PC. Ive contracted a nice little trojan called MS Antivirus 2009. I cant get rid of it and its driving me nuts!!!!! Tried antivirus and spyware removal. Still keeps popping up. It is def in the computer cause the windows pop up regardless of whether the net is on or not. I HATE computers!!!!!:bash: :bash:
 
My Macbook Pro is the single best computer I have ever used, I got sick of throwing my money away on dead PC's.

PC's just aren't as stable. Case in point: bought my GF a new Dell Laptop for Christmas last year that she uses more like a netbook than anything. Online shopping, facebook, and occassionally autocad. The thing had Vista and would not stop crashing (even with McAffee). I had Dell switch it out for a whole new PC with XP after 6 Months.

PC.... Because I can build my own with what I want to have in it. Plus I am not alienated by the MAC and IPOD name. I have used both and eh.... just not for me.

i have had my HP laptop for almost 3 years and its P.O.S! harddrive went out and the guy who replaced it either did a bad job or the whole things is just f'd cause it locks up for no reason all the time and i get blue-screened.

i want a macbook, but as a college student would it be a good computer to have as far as using Word/other common type documents?

You can either buy the Microsoft Office package for it, which is what I did, or you can buy their version of it for about half the price. Supposed to work just as well as office, and is compatible with word so you can send it to your teachers, etc. You just need to make sure you save it in the right format.

Two main problems here:
1) Dell is not a good quality product, HP all the way.
2) McAffee is the devil. It is so terrible and slows the computer down. NEVER USE McAffee!:whipping2
