Mac or PC?

I have the previous gen MacBook Pro, and the current gen MacPro Tower.

15.4" Model maxed out at 4GB RAM

New MacPro Tower

I don't have the 30" display, but a 24" & 22" dual setup.

I have a 32" display right now, but it's an HDTV. When I get the MB Pro I am also going to get their 24" display that they just came out with when they upgraded all of their designs. The HDTV works well, but I'd rather move it to be just my TV and gaming screen for my Xbox 360.

Yeah, the 24" LED Cinema display is very nice.

The only bug you have to avoid is the color hue flicker. If you keep the monitor at 100% brightness it tends to overheat, and the white balance gets squirrelly.

To get around this, you just set your display to less than 100% brightness, I have mine set at 95%, and there is no more flicker.

I'll resurrect this thread, because why not?

I guess I'm one of the few people on Earth who has a PC with Vista that doesn't have many problems. I have an HP dv5t that I customized specifically for movies/gaming.

I'm pretty good with computers so I keep everything very clean in terms of bloatware and the like. Another great help was doing a fresh install of vista right after I got the machine, to erase all the nonsense that was shipped pre-installed. I run lots of games, including older ones designed for XP (and not "compatible" w/Vista) without issue in compatibilty mode with some tweaked settings. I'm still good for at least one or two games of Battlefield 1942 CTF on my laptop every week. :cannon:

As for Macs - I give Apple major marketing props for how well they've branded their products and been in-tune with their customers. This whole iLife deal is something that just about every company in the world would love to emulate.

I'm a heavy PC user as well, and love the improvements to Windows via Win7.

The Apple ads are effective and they have some great products, they're just a little too expensive for my taste.

I totally agree with the price issue, but let me put it in perspective for you.

We all bought 4Runners over other SUV's for a reason, and we most likely paid more for our 4Runners over another SUV because we understand the quality that Toyota delivers, the value of the 4Runner is greater than the cost.

That is why paying a little more for a Mac over a PC, in the long run will pay for itself.

I would say go for the mac, make sure you buy one for at least $2,000 so you can fit in with the other hipsters. I'll enjoy my $400 PC just fine lol :biggrin2:

4Runners don't cost double of what the competition does and have less standard features like a Mac does.
