Made a tire purchase today and hoping I didn't make a mistake.

Well it was actually a belated Christmas present. I didn't do through research on going bigger but did read great reviews on the tires. I wound up getting the new BF Goodrich AT T/A KO2's. I went with the 265 75r 16 since the 70r is not available. They will be used as a daily driver and weekend fishing warrior. I didn't notice until after the purchase that they are E rated tire. My current setup is a stock 01 4Runner SR5, 140k.

I currently have General Grabbers on it. So a few questions. Did I go totally overkill with a E rated tire? Should I experience any rubbing and if so, does rubbing cause major damage or is it just a nuesense? Does anyone else on here have a common setup and your thoughts on it? Lastly, I'm really just hoping someone will tell me I'm over thinking this and I should be fine. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

I just did the exact same setup, you will need to drive it a little bit and see where it rubs on the inside of your wheel well because it will rub the plastic and it is annoying. Simply take a razor knife and trim the plastic pieces off of the plastic and most likely the tip of the bumper.

I would keep them. I bought Nittos in the same size I believe and they are E rated. Never had a flat, held up for 3 or 4 years. Yes, road a bit harder, but I think they were great overall. I did lower the pressure (from the rated pressure on the tire) and it did soften the ride some.

What I do when I get new tires is air them up to about 40 psi and make a mark across the tread with a Markal paint stick, then drive around and progressively lower the pressure until the mark is worn evenly across the tread. Add 1 psi and Take note of the pressure. Front and rear will be different. And add a couple pounds when you load it up. That'll give you perfect tread wear throughout the life of the tire. And provide a much better feeling ride and even handle better since the most tread possible is contacting the road.
