Made last payment

I just made the last payment on my '05 4.0 SR5 last week and got the title in the mail. Started off as a lease but I liked it so much I ended up buying him. I just turned 76k miles and I'm looking forward to adding to that total substantially. Is there anything that I should be on the lookout for service wise to keep him running his best?

Congrats! I'm not far behind you. I will be making my last payment on my '07 4R next month, which is a year and a half earlier than the initial term of the loan.

Other than routine maintenance, I would just make sure you keep your car clean this time of year. Looks like you reside in the northeast, and I know they are not shy about using a lot of salt on the roads in you neck of the woods. Rust can be your worst enemy, especially if you plan on hanging onto your 4Runner for a while.

Now you're on the road to a better financial state. If you can still afford it...keep making payments to yourself. Put it in a bank account. Then when you buy your next new vehicle you might have enough to pay cash.

I've only been making ONE car payment for the past 20+ years. Every vehicle since late 80's I've bought with cash.

Like MikeInNH says "keep making those payments but to yourself". You could however reward yourself by only saving half of that payment to savings and then just totally forget about having that money in your account.:hatsoff:

4 years payment free for me. :banana: I'm tempted many times to get something new but this truck has everything I need and want so why go for a new payment..I mean truck. I looked at the 5th Gen and for the money I think I'll wait to see what the 6th Gen has to offer.

Congrats on the debt free life. (Car payment anyways). I just bought my 08 4runner so I still have a long road ahead of me.
