MAF sensor

I ended up ruining my stock air cleaner assembly today when the MAF sensor mounting bolts wouldn't come out and snapped the portion the MAF sensor connects to. Now i have to buy a new air box but some of the aftermarket ones that are supposed to be stock have a different looking MAF sensor mounting location and style. I have the barrel shaped one that mounts with two 10mm bolts and attaches to the air intake boot.

anyone happen to have an answer to what style or type of MAF sensor i would need or have a stock air box i can buy?

I think it would be helpful to call your local junkyard and see if they have the intake assembly.

I replaced my stock MAF sensor with a Duralast one that i purchased at Autozone. The part number for this unit is: DL-3000.

I ran this unit for almost 4 months now and it seems to be working like the original MAF sensor. The MAF sensor cost about 82.00$ new.

Hope this helps.

It would be nice if you gave us year, model, and engine, along with pictures. This is kind of basic when asking about parts.

Assuming you have the 6 cyl, V6 3.4L gasoline 5VZ-FE that most of us have here, there were two models of air box/MAF sensor systems, depending on year. It sounds like you have the older system.

The older system is considerably more expensive to replace and many choose to substitute a new style airbox/MAF sensor if they need to replace. It's not that hard. A little searching on here will find how-tos.

Go to this site and plug in your VIN to find out your OEM part numbers. It covers both North American and Euro models.

Is your old sensor still usable, or do you need to replace both box and sensor?

I'd just get a cold air intake and a new MAF and call it a day..but I like to spend money on the rig..and that prob. wont help gas mileage much :D.

Also agree on a junkyard find. It should work fine and most junkyards will let you exchange your parts if they do not work.

If it's only the sensor you need, the "turbine" style MAF you have is also found in V6 Camrys. The sensor I have now was from a 94 if my memory is right.

P.S. brand new from Toyota, that part is over $600.
