I'm considering replacing my Magellan Xplorist 100 (useless in the 4Runner, got it mostly for Geocaching) with a Magellan eXplorist 500 (color screen, USB interface, MapSend software, etc). I was wondering if any of my other "brothers and sisters" here on t4r.org had any experience with this unit?

I've been using the explorist 600 for a few months now and it's been a very capable unit. I think the 600 just has a couple more bells and whistles over the 500. It's a good street navigator with MapSend. It would obviously be better with a larger display. But nothing beats it's ability to unplug and go for a hike, on a boat, or on a quick geocache. I've looked at different mounts but decided on using this Case Logic product. It wedges between the seat and the console and sits in eye view. Also it has an internal compartment to hold the excess cable so it can run straight from the device to the cigarette lighter without a lot of wires hanging around.
