Maglight modification EZ as pizza pie

Yeah, I had it in the drivers front side door compartment, but learned about mounting them in a maxima forum. I thought it was worth the few bucks for the hooks. Just my opinion... Also, the screws don't stick out because there's some type of foam thing on the reverse side that protects the compartment.

The mounting brackets are Maglight Brand? What department did you find those brackets in? I figured since you did all the work, we can benefit from it.

Anyway, thanks for telling us about it. I just have my maglight under my seat but the dang thing is always rolling around. One time it found its way under the gas pedal at just the wrong moment. I needed to get out of the way quick and I couldn't cuz the flashlight was under there.

That jack storage door is pretty flimsy and a flashlight is relatively heavy. Seems like the door, plastic hinges would bend over time and the thing would pop off altogether with some rough off-roading...
Maybe on the panel next to the door would be a better mount?

The brackets are Maglite brand, and there usually tough to find at most Home Depots. Just check the flashlight isle and maybe you will find some.
Firstoyz, To be honest I was more concerned about the flashlight jingling and rattlin' around but the brackets are pretty secure. I don't see a problem down the line, as long as the weight is concentrated towards the base.

I like the way it looks too but there is something that bothers me about that mod. I have the same clips and light on a wooden leg on my workbench, so I know the hold those clips have on that light. Now that hold that the clip has to the car is not that strong, and if something were to pull on it, I doubt the clips would function properly in the near future. So if anyone was to do that setup, I would make certain you have one hand holding the plastic in place as you remove the light. Personally I would go with the Husky mod for it's not part of the car, and can easily be replace for I am sure it's much more affordable. I am finding unless you can find the parts outside of Toyota, you will pay an arm and a leg to replace anything that is part of the vehicle at the time you bought it.

That's a great place to mount a small fire extinguisher too...Keeps it out of the way, yet gives ready access in an emergency.
I keep my maglite in my driver side door pocket -- the head sticks out making it easy to get it back out if needed in a hurry and I don't have to run around back to open the hatch first. Another place to mount the maglight brackets is on the floor board just under the front edge of the seat.

Put the maglite clips through your front floormat on the drivers's side and mount the fire extinguisher on the passenger's side. Makes both readily accessible, out of the way, won't rip out like the plastic will, and if you decide to take them out, the holes are hardly noticeable through the carpet. That flashlight in the back like that is just "beggin" to get ripped off/out of the plastic.
