Magnaflow Exhaust

Just wondering, I am still saving my pennies for a new 4Runner and doing research on aftermarket exhausts. From what I have read, Borla makes a system for the V6 and the V8, I have seen pictures on here of members who have them installed.

Now, I have been doing some homework and seen that Magnaflow has an exhaust for the V8 model 4Runner and that got me to thinking.

If I remember right, Borla's exhaust is the same for the V6 and the V8, there is no difference in part # or anything, it uses the same exhaust.

If that is the case, I am thinking then that is the same situation for the Magnaflow. I would love to get a Magnaflow since it is under $500 bucks. But the difference I think is, it is a dual tip muffler that comes out the back, not sure if the gains for HP are a lot.

Here is a description from the Magnaflow site:

5x11x22" Muffler 2.5" tubing 3.8x3.0" dual side exit rectangle tips

And another from Ptuning.com:

Any input would me much appreciated. Thank you again.

Aftermarket exhaust

No One? Oh that's me! You caught me sleeping!

Don't know how accurate this info may be on 4Runners, but it's your best [so far], and clearly worth the price.

Generally speaking, if you don't do significant changes upstream - headers, removal/replacement of constricted areas, performance cats, etc., any HP gain with a cat back system will be minimal, at best. Traditionally, they are appearance and sound enhancements. And allow me to clarify the 2nd part: only enhanced if you consider higher decibles an enhancement - cuz it will make noise.

I just didn't like the way the stock exhaust sticks straight out the back, so I had it cut off just in front of the resonator, then they turned it out just behind the mud flap. I like the way it looks much better now. it didn't change the sound at all, but then again, I didn't want it to.

Yeah, I'm still trying to decide if I like the appearance of the exhaust. I think I'd be more ok if it didn't have the Valor calling attention to location. No biggie.

But I am in complete agreement with you on sound, like NONE.
Unless you nail it, this thing is utterly silent. I love that: the sound of quality. I just got out of a 5.9 GC; it would flat hump, but sounded like a musclecar.
