Magnaflow & Volant on 08 V8 Limited

A couple people have asked me if I would shoot some video of this setup. It is the Stainless Cat Back Magnaflow System with the Cold Air Kit from Volant. It is on my 2008 Limited V8. I have had it on for about 2500 miles and no complaints or regrets. It is super mellow until you stomp on it, then the sound is louder, especially from the intake. However it isn't obnoxious, just sounds like a V8 should. Most of the time you can't even hear the intake, and the exhaust is louder than stock but not super loud.

People talk about drone, etc. and how it is even worse with the Volant. I totally disagree, yes it gets louder at times in the cab but you wanted a louder exhaust and some more power. I have owned Borla, Magnaflow, and Flowmaster kits on other vehicles and I don't think this is any different as far as interior sound compared to my past kits. I tried taking a couple videos at different speeds. You can even hear the tire noise over the so called "drone" that some people are complaining about. The tires are the Michelin Cross Terrains, so they are not that loud of a tire, just to give you an idea of the amount of sound coming off the tires vs the exhaust.

I didn't shoot any video with the windows open because it was 35 degrees with 45 mph winds so I thought the wind noise would overpower the exhaust sound. I will take some video on a different day if someone really wants it. However I wanted to clear up the "drone" complaints and post how this setup sounds.

Oh and the smoke you see from the stationary exhaust is residue from the earlier in the day Seafoam treatment, so just ignore it and if don't know what I am talking about, do a search for Seafoam.

Also the videos are shot in 720HD so you can switch it before you start watching, I am not sure if that will improve the sound for you or not?

One question was: any change in mpg.

I do a lot of city driving, under 45 mpg. I saw a 1 mpg increase but I couldn't tell you about the highway.

Next month I will be taking my yearly trip to Tenn. to do some riding. I will be hauling 3 bikes, 4 full size adults, gear, etc. so I will report back on the mpg from that trip. I really don't know how it will do.

I bought the exhaust and intake to add some extra pep that will hopefully help on this trip, to make the V8 sound like a V8 and to route the exhaust away from the back window where my dog hangs out.

I thought that might come up. One of those weird things...I wear full gear on my bike but I don't like using my seat belt unless I am on a long road trip. I know it doesn't make any sense. I even wear helmet leather jacket and gloves on my fricken scoot! Maybe it has something to do with feeling more safe in a cage vs when I am out in the open on the bike.
