Magnetic gray touch up paint

Anyone know if DupliColor Magnetic Gray touch up is a good match? Have a couple small paint chips in the hood of my new 4Runner. I bought Toyota touch up paint as I figured the factory touch up would be best, but the touch ups are way off the color and more noticeable after touching up than when the raw metal was showing. Very disappointed!

I have found the magnetic gray difficult to match. I think the color and the metallic flakes make touching up really difficult. I have used Dr. Colorchip on mine and the process is really simple and the match is pretty good, but the chips are still noticeable. I even overfilled and wet sanded, but the metallic flakes/color still stands out. If I get the courage to add clear and sand again, it might help, but I think I'm going to leave well enough alone. There will be others.

Why not just get a touch up pen from the dealer?

I have a '05 Galactic Grey...I find that those touch up pens/paint...even from the dealer never really match the color of the original paint.

My advice...find one of those guys who does minor body work...that goes from dealer to dealer doing minor body/paint work for car dealers. Ask them to mix up some touch up paint...they should be able to match the color a lot better.

That's what I did and the results are like night and day.

How do you find one of those guys? Well, I just asked the local Toyota dealership and they gave me the contact info.

I got the touch up pen from dealership and that was what was so disappointing. That is why I was asking about alternatives. Dealer touch up looks like a totally different color.

Thank you. That was another thought. I’ve used Dr. Colorchip on previous vehicles with relatively good success. May give that a shot.

I used mine and it looks like a totally different color, more silver than gray. Cross referenced online and they did sell me the correct pen/brush, but just not a good match on mine. The paint is brighter and more noticeable than the chips. That said they are really small touch ups, but I’m anal retentive about it and they are right in my face probably because I know where they are.

impossible to get it smooth unless you want to wet sand, and color match is meh

I have the Toyota touchup paint and the dupli color and I find that the duplicolor is actually a better match.

I used the Automotive Touch-up paint pen, it's "close", but certainly not an exact match. I'm not sure a perfect match pen exists for MGM

Attached are a zoomed out and in photo of one of the spots with touch up paint applied. They are small, but again I’m anal about the details. Thank you everyone for the tips. Sounds like there are a few options out there.
