Magnuson, (TRD), supercharger on sale

$300 off is nice and all, but if you're spending nearly $3,000 what's a measly $300??? Doesn't seem like much incentive. I can't talk too much though, cus even if it was $1,000 off I still couldn't afford it lol.

No one cares about the logo. Most dealerships would not even notice the difference. You can get the TRD supercharger decals on eBay.

262k supercharged... Outstanding!

Ah crappie. I just ordered one of these too. Damn it! Getting SC at 262,000miles.

Let the fun begin... Buying the SC is like buying a car with just AM and no AC. I've had mine for more than a year just itching to jump on the manifold. I've been painstakingly adding my "options". Definitely need deep pockets for one of these regardless of what the discount is. The only thing holding me back now is the 2.2 pulley. On back order...

Here's the rest of the story...
 • URD or AEM tuning
 • Colder plugs
 • New thermostat
 • Wideband gauge with mounting option
 • Fuel injectors
 • Fuel pump
 • Transgo kit or IPT rebuild (I'll do this after the install)
 • Open the exhaust

The list goes on...Exercise extreme caution before installation...make sure everything is ready to go FIRST.

Unfortunately, a super charger is not just plug n' play. I actually have some regrets that I even entered into the SC realm. For the $700 or $900 I paid for it (I forgot) I just couldn't pass up the "deal."

All I can say is...adding the super charger, now that's a respectable commitment..!

And a wallet humper.... :boink:

You can run the SC on stock pulley on high octane without any other mods. This is how the dealer installed them.

So whats a good estimate of the total cost to supercharge? around $5k?

While this is probably true, would you rather run the SC in a plug and play fashion, or use it with Rock_Rat's list?

IMO, his list is the difference between doing it, and doing it right.

Rock_Rat, only thing I see missing from your list is keep in mind you will have to run premium octane all the time after SC, and also the Transgo shift kit is a start, but long-term I don't think the tranny holds up to the increased power, so you'd need to beef up the internals; I think that's the IPT one you mentioned.

Depends if you follow Rock_Rat's list or not. Like JayRolla said, you could probably plug and play with the setup; but I'm not sure how long the other components would last.

At least the bright side of this all is that Magnuson is selling these puppies new after TRD discontinued the SC program for 5VZ-FE.

I'm with Mike, to do it right cost bucks.
I bought the High Boost kit from LCE because it's cheaper in the long run than starting with low boost & upgrading later. (because you know you're gonna!) It's comes with the 5th injector, smaller pulley & Fuel/Timing calibrator + software DVD that I can load to a Laptop.
Basically it is plug & play but you still need a higher flow fuel pump & wideband AFM gauge with a bung to the exhaust. Those 2 items alone are another $270. The fuel management needs to be wired to the ECU & looking at the schematic scares the shit out of me! LOL
Plus boost gauge, gauge pod, new plugs, manifold studs, serial cable for laptop, there's probably more I'm forgetting.

I would slap my SC on as soon as it arrived. Enjoy the power gains the way it was intended. Then add supporting mods afterwards. At the stock pulley boost your completely safe.

well just to be clear, we're talking straight bolt-on= +40HP, but if you tune everything(intake/exhaust/7th injector/fuel pump, etc) you would be looking at an additional 50/60HP or so, for a total of around 100HP over stock. from what I remember from the other SC threads...

The Transgo kit is the same as the ipt upgrade, the only difference is you do the work. They both decrease shift time and increase overall line pressure and flow. If you really want to you can rebuild the whole tranny with stronger internals but its not really necessary if you do the valve body upgrade right away.
