When I've started the truck and its been sitting a while in this colder weather, the maintence light flashes for about 5 seconds. I thought the only time this light came on is when the oil change scheduale comes up (mileage based)

The maintenance light is merely a mileage based reminder light, flashing for a few seconds at 4500 miles since the last reset and lit solid after 5000 miles. It doesn't monitor engine run time like GMs or have a sensor to determine oil quality.

I reset mine the first instance it starts to bling, so it doesn't annoy me. To reset it, set the display to odometer first (if it isn't already and turn the key back to 'Lock' or 'Acc'. Hold down the switch that toggles between the two tripometers and odometer. While holding down the switch turn the key to 'On'. The odometer display will display a series of dashes and the will disappear one by one and the Maintenance light will flash a couple times to indicate the reset has been done. The process takes less than 10 seconds to complete.

:iagree: RESET... my wife drove to the autoshop when she saw that..I said you travelled 4500 miles on it from the last oil change. and I was planning to pour Seafoam or Techron b4 changing oil and filters.:biggrin2:
