MAINT light...how to turn it off?

My MAINT light came on at 5k miles, and I'm not planning to take my vehicle to the dealership for service until 10k or possibly 15k. Is there any way for me to turn it off? Apologies if this is a simple one, but I did search and didn't find the answer I was looking for. Thanks!
