Maintanance light won't come off

I've tried the procedure as detailed in the manual with no success. What do you guys think?

I just did it...you do not need to start car at all.

Step 1 put key in
Step 2 hold reset and do not let go
step 3 turn key all the way but do not turn engine on

MAINT light should disappear in about 5 secs.

If you follow the procedure the light should go out.

Make sure your display in the odometer mode and the key is out.
1. Hold down the reset button and don't let go while performing the steps below.
2. Switch your key to the 'On' position.
3. Your odometer should flash all zeros briefly.
4. There will now be six dashes. Each dash will disappear, like a count down.
5. When all the dashes disappear, you can let go of the reset button.
6. Turn key back to 'Accessory' or 'Lock'.

You can now try and turn the key back to 'On' and see if the maintenance will flash or stay lit.
