Maintenance Advice and Instructions

2010 4Runner. Dealer is ridiculously expensive and tries to outright rip me off on every visit - they told my wife the injectors needed to be replaced at 30,000 - they are a 'wear' item - cost $600. Owner's manual never mentions fluid change intervals - except for engine oil. I get the oil changed at a local shop - that is all the maintenance I have done. Have 60,000 miles on 4Runner now.

I have an Polaris Ranger that I service on a regular basis. I use the 4runner for an occasional commute, vacation travel and towing the Ranger on an aluminum trailer - total weight around 2,000#.

When should I changer front/rear differential fluid, transmission fluid, lube the prop shaft?

What fluids do you recommend? Are there any filters?

How difficult is it to change the fluids and grease the shaft? Any advice?

Also manual says to torque the prop shaft bolt - how many and what 3?

I drive a '07 Camry on a daily basis - over 160,000 miles so far with NO maintenance other than regular engine oil/filter and air filter changes. Last Camry 1995 had 250,000 miles when I sold it - it was still running strong. Same story - no maintenance other than engine oil/filter.

Isn't it interesting they pulled that on your wife? If that happened to my wife, I'd be down there in someone's face!! Pisses me off just to hear it.

The Lincoln dealer used to (try to) pull that same shit on my 80 year old mom.

Except gas, I simply take care of anything to do with cars for us.
