Maintenance light

Hi all,

My maintenance light came on today, but I changed my oil last week so I reset it. Today it came on again, so I reset it again. Once reset, I turned the key to off and then started it up again, the maintenance light was right back on.

Ive also noticed my car seems to be idling lower than usual and seems a bit off. I also have a problem where my entire gauge cluster will die. Everything goes black, and all gauges read zero and then it will come back on with the maintenance light flashing.

Are these related and is there anything the maintenance light signaled? I thought it just told me that Ive driven 5000 miles since last reset.

About a year ago I hydrolocked my motor. Insurance covered it and I got a new motor, ecu and wire harness in my truck. Everything was fine until now. Idk if that helps, but thought I would mention it. And not in water recently, I learned my lesson haha.

I also just cleaned and lightly re-oiled my k&n drop in filter, I was thinking maybe the MAF got dirty, but I dont see what that has to do with the cluster or maintenance light.

So after some looking today, I found that my motor mount is missing both the bolts on one side. I popped the hood, and had a friend rev the engine in gear, and the drivers side of the engine shot up about 7 in. Is it possible that it tore some part of the wire harness while doing so that could have caused the electrical issues? It seems that the car is running fine though, the excess vibration that I thought was a rough idle, turned out to be the motor mount issues.

As long as it's not excluded, it's covered. I know a guy that had $22K in damage after rolling off road and it was all covered. Probably a good idea to read your policy to know what your coverage includes.

I always thought you needed off road vehicle insurance for it.

Mine wasnt offroad. It was kind of a freak accident. I drove through a puddle on the road maybe 6in deep and it was enough to get about a gallon of water straight into the intake. Luckily I had comprehensive and it covered it completely.

Does such a product exist for trucks? I know it does for ATV's, etc but regular insurance covers all sorts of stuff. I make sure my insurer knows about the off-road extras like sliders/bumpers and that they're covered too. They ask if I take it off-road and I always tell them I do and ask if that's an issue. I have yet to have anyone change my policy because of it.

I know another guy that totaled his 4Runner trying to cross a river that ruined his electronics and the insurance covered it. I'm pretty sure he posted details here but it could have been a different forum.

I'd assume so, especially if it becomes a dedicated trail rig.
