Im at 89k right now with my runner. Tax return is coming as well. Do
you guys think i should do the maintenance now or wait till next year
tax return when i will be probably around 105-110k miles.

Im talking about all the fluids and anything else thats recommended at
around 100k for a v6 4x4.

At 100k on every vehicle I own I always try to do:

Coolant flush and fill
Transmission flush and fill
New shocks
differential and transfer case drain and refill
Oh and don't forget to lube your drive shaft.

If you are going to do shocks and not lifting, I would recommend new springs. Springs don't wear like shocks do, but they do wear. I paid $138 shipped for a set of brand new fj springs when I did my shocks. My thought is, if you are doing the shocks and can swing an extra $100 to $150 get some new springs and bring that ride back to life)

Of course since you are on this website, that means you will likely want to lift it. So then there's that when considering new shocks...

Do it when it's due (or before)...
my original plan was to do it in feb with tax return, but i will only be at about 93k. i guess that better than doing it late.

yes, im planning on anything thats recommended for our 4runners around
100k. I have a daystar lift right now, but i will be doing the bilstein 5100s and fj springs , new rims, and 285 duratracs with my tax return.

Well, I wouldn't worry if you have to put it off to around 100k; Toyota likes to use 90k as a Major Service milestone. But honestly 100k is a good marker too since that's when the first coolant service is supposed to be done (followed by every 50k afterwards).

Just don't let it go too long, many people just keep putting it off and it just gets more and more expensive as stuff piles up and then they wonder why their car is falling apart and won't last forever.

thanks, i think i will just get it done at around 90k since i will have the money to do everything.

heres what i got on my list, if anyone sees something missing, let me know.

bilstein 5100s
fj springs
duratrac 285s
1/2" bodylift
replace couplings on cv boots
radiator flush/fill
oil change
transmission oil change
transfer case oil change
grease drive shaft
AFE pro dry s air filter
spark plugs
diff fluids
brake check

Your splurging and taking care of the 4r like a good owner should. Don't forget to splurge on the owner that is doing all this also. Ad it to the list.

aha... driver was missing the r... oh yes i will.. thats why bilsteins, wheels and tires are on the list too..

A service rep at Toyota told me I couldn't do the transfusion fluid myself, is this true. she said I needed a special tool that they don't sell.

Edit: after research, it looks like doing the transmission fluid change is no problem and requires no special tool.
