Maintenance (Oil) Light ?

I just changed my oil at 5028 miles. The light came on as I was driving home and I changed it when I arrived. I ran the engine for about 3 minutes after the change (BTW the dam filter was put on by a gorilla!).

Does the light go out on its own or do I have to take it to the dealer and pay to have it go out?

same shit happen to me the first time i have the oil change at 5k ! I had to crush the shit out of the 20004 filer to get it out!!:bash:

Thanks for the link! I thought there was something but in all of the results from searches I couldn't find it.

I ended up putting a screwdriver thru the thing and also used a filter wrench (which I broke) getting the thing to turn!

I swear there has to be a secret to putting them on that tight.

Even if you normally want to do your own Oil/Filter changes. The first one should alway be done by the dealer. Sounds like some of you guys just learned that lesson. :

First oil change

I had the same problem with the oil filter. I actually went to Valvolene and had them loosen then hand tighten it and replaced it at home. Good info on the idiot light, though. Will have to do that when it comes on. I found out why it is so tight though. Now keep in mind this is from the valvolene guys, but they said that the filter is put on before the engine is placed in the truck, and it is done mechanically. Therefore the damn thing is toqued to the maximum recommendations.

Is this because of the light, the tight filter or some other reason?

I think that sumo wrestlers tighten those filters in Japan, because mine was reduced to smashed and twisted metal in the proccess of removing it.
