Maintenance on 1990 T4R V6

Hey guys I'm new to the 4 runner world so I need some sound Direction and advice.

I picked up a 1990 4x4 T4R V6 auto w/216,000 miles for $900 bucks it seems to be fair I don't think its been driven so much in the past two years the tags were out in 05, I drove it 90 miles to my house in 4x4 H4 It wouldn't drive in the normal 2wheel for some reason.
Here are the list of issues at first glance,
1) won't go into regular drive mode
2) power steering is squealing and hard to turn at times
3) rear window needs motor I think
4) low idle which causes it to shut off at times
Thats it so far
What should I do to keep it going strong the engine is very quiet and runs pretty smooth no knock that I can tell exhaust smell is pretty fresh no smoke no over heating "yet"
no rust that I can tell, suspension is kinda flimsy but I drive compact imports so that might be the problem there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah I wanted to mention the gas mileage is pretty good well at least better than the 8

Wow, this is a handful and there is no simple answer so here goes:

1) This could be as simple as changing the tranny fluid. I would start by doing this.

2) Again, might be as simple as needing fluid or your pump may need to be bled due to air in the lines or your pump may be shot.

3) You can check the voltage at the motor and see if you read anything. If it's bad I'd check out a local junkyard and get one from them.

4) This could be anything form a bad coil, bad O2 sensor, vacuum leaks, etc.

The suspension is probably worn because that year actually had a fairly stiff suspension. Towing may have accelerated this sagging.

Here is what I suggest if you are decent with a wrench: Get a Haynes manual and perform all the basic maintenance. Then move on to the more involved things such as bleeding p/s pump, replacing O2 sensors, spark plugs, etc. If you cannot do this then have a mech look at it and note everything that's wrong with it. Then prioritize the most necessary fixes and have them done.

I've got a 2005 RX 8 too and will soon be moving to SoCal. What a coincidence.
