major coolant leak issue

So my 1994 T4R v6 5speed I have a coolant leak. it started a couple weeks ago looking under the engine it looks like it was coming from the top of the front differential. possibly from the heater lines that give the rear seat heat? today I got home and it smelled like burning in my car after driving about 20 miles home from work. When I took a flashlight under the car to see what the smell was there was coolant everywhere. its not coming from the engine but starts behind where the firewall is and it was covering the front differential and also the driveshaft and idk what its called but there is like a second skid plate in the middle of the 2nd gens idk what its protecting but there was coolant on that as well. I am so confused on what this is. I called my friend and he thinks that my heating line for the rear heat is leaking and may have finally burst or something. I have never used this heat for the rear since i bought the truck and its in the off position 100% of the time. any direction or help would be appreciated. thanks

only on colder days for about a minute when its warming up. The headgasket has been replaced and I am doing the valve cover gasket this weekend. HG was replaced by previous owner.

upon further inspection with daylight today the leak looks like its coming from my front and center differentials. Idk if coolant even flows through those but thats where it looks like it coming from. However I know above the differentials out of sight are the heater lines for the backseat. Any suggestions?

you are right, differentials dont have coolant lines going to them. it can be several things considering your description though here's what i have to offer for suggestions.

lines to back seat...
could very likely be these lines, weather you have the heater on or not they are dederiorating, and could very easly spring a leak being around 20 years old. i'd inspect them and report any findings

lines fron water pump to heat exchanger for oil...
these lines run on the drivers side and start right below the oil filter and go back towards the firewall tillit hits the heat exchanger (round silver oil filter looking canister) and then a little line comes off the heat exchanger and loops around to the block. these lines get extremely (mainly the little one)hot because they take on the responsibility of providing cooling to the oil flow system. i have seen them pop more then one on mine and my friends runner's.

the other senario that comes to hand is a leaking coolant pump. theyhave a seal that blows out when they are kaput and this tends to dribble water that likes to run down the block and oil pan and on top of the differential.

check it out and let us know if you need any more advise.

well I am changing the Valve cover gasket as I have a leak thats been getting worse coming from the back passenger side cylinder. it is getting oil everywhere as it drips down when the engine is off. I just got to work now and drove the same distance as I did last night and I looked under the vehicle and there was no coolant. My clutch and Brakes seemed a little soft but I checked all fluids this morning and everything was good. I will look at the heater lines this weekend when I am working on it. Any good way to be able to see them, it seems that the differential blocks the view of them. the coolant leaks seems to be coming from the passenger side and dripping on the passenger side of the front differential so idk if its the water pump lines but i will do a further inspection of driver side this weekend. as for your third scenario what is the coolant pump? I have never dealt with one of these. thanks so much for your reply its helped with a starting point to look. :ybrick:
