So I recently discovered that I am eligible for a wish from the Make-A-Wish foundation, but before I get into that i'll give you all a little background information on myself.
Hi my name is Hayden, I drive an 07 2wd v6 4runner SR5 in shadow mica. I'm 16 (turning 17 this summer) and will be a senior next year at Hoover High (The one from the MTV show 2-A-days). Anyways I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in 7th or 8th grade which would inevitably change my life in more ways than I could initially imagine. I was in for a routine physical for football at my middle school and when my urine samples came back things weren't looking good. Immediately I had to stop playing contact sports and things like that. If i'm not mistaken I had an alarming amount of protein in my urine. Initially they thought it was leukemia, so I tend to count my blessing and have always looked on the bright side of situations always saying "It could be worse". Not long from then I was diagnosed with MPGN2 or in the medical world Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis-2 sometimes also called Dense Deposit Disease. To me this means I have to take 9 different pills in the morning and a few at night, my friends often joke with me saying i'm basically an old man haha. There are about 500 known cases of this in the world and only 1 other person in my state that has it and she's not doing as well as I am. Although I am stable now with my kidneys functioning at around 92% it's only a matter of time till that number makes a drop and I will have to have a Kidney transplant in which my body will just give the disease to the new kidney and the process starts all over again. Just want to mention that about 95% of the people who have this are on dialysis getting all of their body fluids filtered and are basically in the hospital 24/7, like I said I'm stable and fine for awhile and you would never know I had this by looking at me. I do however have to have biopsies every year which just recently was moved to every other year and instead of going to my Nephrologist every month I now go every 3, so things just recently got a little better.
Now on to the main point, What does this have to do with a 4th gen 4runner?
I've been putting some thought into what I would like to do with this wish and came up with a few choices.
1. (I think i like this option the most)
My Runner (Marley). Often they grant people shopping sprees and in one instance this teen got his old 80's chevy restored and got to customize it however he wanted. I would initially do this with my 4runner. A few things i want to do.
- An offroad bumper for the front and rear (a tire carrier and gas can carriers on that would be nice haha) I like the look of the CBI bumpers but since both of mine are damaged and have been for a little under a year thats a must!
- Make it 4wd
- Toytec boss or ultimate 4" lift
- some trd pro 4runner rims or fuel rims
- nice A/T tires
- Gobi or baja roof rack
- new audio equipment (speakers subs etc)
- new headunit
- satoshi grill cause i've always wanted one but am to scared to make one myself.
- new headlights
- new exhaust system that is louder than the stock set up and plus i kind of messed mine up along with the rear bumper
- hell maybe even a snorkel or a supercharger would be sweet
- interior lights
I want to have an badass runner that looks is as great as i think the car is. and I could never purchase really ay of this since i work at a pizza joint cooking pizzas haha
and maybe more if y'all could suggest stuff that'd be cool
2. I don't know what their policy is on cars, but if I could get my hands on a Nissan Skyline r34 GTR or a Nissan Silvia S15 I would literally drop dead of over joy. At the same time importing and stuff is expensive and i'm not trying to rob anyone else of a wish and would settle for like an S13 hatchback and make it a sileighty or just a car I can learn to drift in and have fun in cause eventually driving will become not as easy and i would like to do it now and have fun with it. But the r34 and the S15 are literally my 2 favorite cars of all time so thats why I would want that.
So my question to y'all and were in my shoes what would y'all do to your runner? I'm curious to hear from y'all on this and maybe it will help me decide on things I would like to get done.
