Anyone make a backup DVD for their Navigation system? I never did any DVD burning but I do have a burner and would like to make a backup...this way I can use the backup and keep the original in a safe place. Can this disc be copied and used? Any tips or pointers to how I go about doing it? I copied the nav disc to my hard drive and it tells me I need a blank disc that has a capacity of at least 14.53 GB.

I am actually planning on doing this today since tomorrow I will be taking my Nav in for the disc upgrade TSB and want to keep the override function. If you do a search for "Nav" or "Navigation" you should be able to find the thread discussing the process. If I remember correctly you will need a blank dual-layer DVD, and a burner capable of burning the dual-layer DVD.

Just an update to original question...Today I was successful in making a copy of the DVD. This time the file size was 7.26 GB...I don't know why last time I kept getting over 15 GB as my file size! First off I'm using a Mac PowerBook G4 and I simply copied the files from the DVD into a "burn folder" (it's on the OS X menus). After copying the disc I simply put in a blank double layer DVD+R DL disc and clicked the "burn" button. Very simple and straight forward. The whole process took quite a while to do...copying the DVD to hard drive was about 30 minutes and then burning the disc took close to an hour. So far I can say the disc loaded up in the system and it accepts destinations. I'll post any updates as I use the system. It seems it would be quite easy to modify the files to keep the override function on the new software version.
