Making a flush rear cargo area

Pull the rear seat bases out and there is more room, enough for me to sleep straight. Extra storage space in the footwells too.

I did the Antman cargo mod and could not be happier with it.

Just spent 4 months in Iraq sleeping on a cot that was shorter than me, Luckily I sleep curled up in a ball anyways! Just gotta get the floor flat and I'll be more than happy!

I too have a rear cargo slide and all hardware that I will be removing and putting up for sale in about 6 weeks. I'll post up here again if my local sale doesn't work out. Let me know if anyone is interested. :hatsoff:

I've thought about creating a thread with all the inspirations I got when building mine because I spent a few months figuring out exactly what I wanted to do. I didn't want to lose a ton of space in the trunk, and I wanted a platform because there was a little kink where the seats went down that I could feel through my sleeping pad when I slept back there in colder climates while camping with the wife.

Give a look at my build and hope that gives you some idea. Ended up going with a drawer that I keep in permanently now (although I can remove it as its not bolted down), and then a detachable platform that makes it flush with the drawer. It's only about 8.5" tall so I do lose some space while sitting down but is good enough sitting on top with a slight hunch.

Does it bother you that there are gaps between the drawer system and the wheel wells?

Ideally yeah I would have love to form something perfectly to the wheel wells but that would take too much time. I like having the gap where those small trays already exist near the tailgate itself on the right and left side.

Once I got the main drawer shell in there though I absolutely didn't mind it at all. The main Drawer shell actually touches each side of the bottom of the wheel well. Fits real snug in there side to side.

Especially when have my sleeping pads on there, I didn't feel it all or even notice it was there. Here is a photo of the sleeping setup. Its a bit dark, but I have 2 - 2.5" sleeping pads from REI in there with a double sleeping back on top of those for a little extra cushion. They we sleep in our mummy bags from Marmot on top of those.

My plan, for different reasons, is to use some marine grade plywood cut to fit the rear cargo area, coated with line-x and using the tie down points for bolts to mount it with the little cover piece behind the seats removed. Then I can bolt down a tool box and other items to this base, using blind nuts..

The "drawer/storage system" thread is a really good one, lots of solutions in there.

Mine is pretty purpose-built for my needs specifically. I've added some more accessories since posting, too. Turned out really well IMO

Sorry I don’t. It was fairly easy to do. I have since changed this to have a slightly longer table. The setup you see cost 50 bucks or so with some latches. The kids don’t use hinges as i wanted it removable but also hard to find some that would not peptide upward
