Making a GWNF run, need insight

I have a couple days off and want to take a drive west. I've only been out there once or twice and it was years ago on my dirt bike. Can anyone give me some help with getting to trail heads etc. I've done some googling but short of taking 64 to 81, I'm not seeing much in the way of specific places to get on trails etc. I'll be alone and don't want to get into anything too crazy. Any protocols I need to follow? Get a pass of some sort or is it wide open? I guess I'll camp or get a hotel once I'm out there. Not sure really, last minute trip obviously.

The forest is basically all dirt roads. You can get a map at the ranger HQ if you want. You may need a permit to camp, check with the ranger.
