Making HID Fog Lights for cheap

I'm trying this idea on a slim budget. So I bought the best 6" fog lights Advance Auto had ($40). And just as I thought, they were pretty worthless compared to my HID headlights. Now I have another $55 in the DDM H3 35w 6000k kit which should be here in a week.

I want a larger more spread out pattern for off road use. We'll se how it turns out. Anyone else done this? Success?

yeah my friend did this to his 97. he bought some fog lights with a glass lens from walmart and retrofit some 3000k hids into them.
they're the rectangular looking light that look like the factory fogs for 96-98 runners. he did this 2 or 3 years ago and the lights are still going strong.

What watt bulb came with those lights? The biggest issue I would worry about is heat.

I converted my Hella 700's to a 55w HID and they are freakin' bright.

They came with 55w H3 bulbs. I was kinda worried about the heat issue so that's why I didn't bother doing 55w. I may upgrade down the road. Next lighting project will be LED blinkers and projector retrofit.

im about to do this myself. i purchased a new flasher unit that is supposed to work with led's but it was not working out so well. i still have all the bulbs, now i just need to modify my stock flasher relay.
