Making lift blocks??

Hey everyone! Sort of new here...

Did a search but didn't seen where anyone machined their own lift components for a 4th gen T4R. I've been thinking about buying a 2.5/1.5 lift and level kit and just looking at what's included it seems pretty simple and I have plenty of aluminum as well as machining capabilities to make stuff like this.

Has anyone made their own? Is their drawings out there and a list of hardware associated with the kit?

Any help would be appreciated! If this has been discussed, I would sure appreciate a link to the discussion(s).

Havent heard of anyone making their own, not saying it couldnt be done, but havent heard of it. The front spacers should be fairly easy, although you might need to knock the studs out and put longer ones on since you may not have enough thread to secure them properly. I would try to find some dimensions on both, especially the rears because there arent any bolts to hold them in place and keep them from shifting unless theyre properly designed. Hopefully you can find some specs to make them, otherwise it may be safer to just buy them.
 
Yeah, I would make them from scratch. So I would need the studs, and whatever else is needed. (whatever is used to secure them).
 
If you want some good laughs search around the internet for guys who make lift kits out of old used hockey pucks. It is seriously done. I've seen pictures of it on more than one occasion and I've actually seen it in person here at one point on an old pickup. It's pretty funny.
 
check here 4wheelparts is blowing them out. $80 for both front and rear. can get it cheaper with other discounts. but by looking at your blog, when you get them and see how simple they are you are probably gonna say, "i could have made these" =)

Yeah! That's what I've been thinking! :thumb3:

But yeah, for that price, pretty cheap. The front aren't quite the lift I was looking for, but the rears are on target. I've actually been tempted to buy some, take the measurements, and then make some. I know the time associated with making them isn't worth it... But, I'm always looking for something to make that's useful just to keep machining skills up to par and/or try something new.

Still trying to figure out where I saw the aluminum ones...
 
I don't think you would have a problem making the rears out of aluminum as well. I would totally do it if I had access to a machine shop. In fact, my buddy and I contemplated it for a long time for his truck, after we bought one for mine and realized how stupidly easy it was.
