Making the sunroof more quiet.

There is a little seal at the front of the sunroof that moves down when you slide the sunroof to the closed position and then pops up when you open it. I noticed on a long drive yesterday if you pull it down while you are driving it makes the sunroof alot more quiet. Has anyone done any small alterations to keep this seal fixed so it doesn't pop up when opening. The wind resistance with the seal creates a pretty loud whitenoise.

mine is opposite. if i push it down while driving i get more turbulence inside. then again i always drive with all the windows down and the sunroof open. the air seems to swoop in and out the back window very smoothly. do you drive with just the sunroof open but the windows up?

Usually just the back window down and the sunroof open to avoid road noise from traffic.

gapboi is right, the thing that pops up is there to make it quieter. It definately works on mine.
Its official name is a Wind Deflector.

correct me if im wrong but it also seems the deflector reduces wind buffeting if you have all the windows up and the sun roof open. Also the 4runner sunroof is much quieter than my buddies 05 cherokee

with the sunroof open, open the side rear passenger window about 4 inches. that will make the system quieter.

usually opening a window on a back door or on the rear hatch smooths things out. It allows the air to flow in a stream rather than just swirl in the cabin
