Malibu Wakeboard Boat (Or any other)

Anyone here own a Malibu boat? Any other wakeboard boat owners?

I'm driving myself nuts. Looking to purchase a wakeboard boat but I'm starting to lose which way is up? I'm a novice wakeboarder but have been waterskiing since I was six years old. I cannot wait to get into surfing so I want a boat that is going to pull multi-purpose.

Currently looking at a 22MXZ and 21VLX.

If anyone has input I would really appreciate it! Considering Supreme, Moomba and Mastercraft as well. Anyone have experience with Axis? As you can see I'm loosing it!

I'm not a boat owner, but grew up with a couple of friends who lived right on a lake. Started wakeboarding behind a loaded down Ski Nautique, transitioned to one of the first v-drive boats to the current Air Nautique.

10+ years ago, I'd say you'd have to be real specific when looking at boats as far as their ballast, prop spin and hull design. Now most big boat companies know what their doing with their systems and each produces a great wave on either side of the boat. My friends neighbor has a Mastercraft (not sure which model) and it's a great boat, but a PIG. My friends family have always had Nautiques. Great boats too.

Do you live on the water or is this a boat that is going to need to be launched with every use? If you don't live on the water, I'd suggest sacrificing a little boat performance (since it seems to come with a lot of size these days) for ease of out-of-water use. For example, the Air Nautique G25 is 25' long, 102" wide and has a dry weight of 6,400lbs. That's a beast!

I wish I lived on the lake! I've pretty much decided on the 21VLX. It's about 5,000lbs but I only have to tow it about ten miles tops. I may actually put it in a slip at the lake during summer. My family had a 26ft day cruiser with the old Berkley Jet drive. This will be a step up. I can't wait to surf!

I'm a little late to the party but I have a Malibu vlx and love it. Either boat you are considering will do you fine! We surf, wakeboard, and ski behind ours with no issue. My dad has a Malibu XTI with the diamond hull, most vlx have the wake hull (not sure how much research you've done), puts out a better slalom wake than the VLX but I surf now more than anything. Pretty much zero risk of getting hurt since you only go 11 or so mph. We like the rear sundeck better than not having one in a direct drive configuration. Post some picks if/when you get yours.

I've been in and around Axis as well, just the "research" side of Malibu. I compare Axis to Toyota and Malibu to Lexus. Both great products, just more luxury in the Malibu/Lexus. Similarly they usually come out with new technology in Axis before they put it in Malibu, kinda like the smart key when toyota first started with it.

Let me know if you have specific questions, I've been around Malibu for as long as I can remember.

I don't think I understand your question. Axis is the more base version of Malibu. Malibu boats are the "high line" side of their business with more luxury features. Axis are great boats, just not as loaded with "nice" features as a Malibu. Similar to Lexus and Toyota, in this analogy Lexus is Malibu and Axis is Toyota.
