Mammoth New Years

We were definitely in winter wonderland this past new years in Mammoth, CA. When we arrived on the friday before new years eve it was raining and there was no snow on the ground as evidenced by this picture:

We tried to snowboard on the saturday but the mountain was shut down due to high winds so we did the new years thing instead for the whole day (partying). We woke up and made it onto the mountain on new years day a little groggy and there was good bit of snow falling on the mountain. When we returned back to the cabin a foot of snow had probably fallen and the incoming storm was all over the news.

It started to snow harder than ever that night and we woke up to this in front of our place:

the lumps are all cars with about 5 feet of snow on top of them. It is now monday, the day we are supposed to leave to get home. We tried to dig out our friends infinity car. Everyone was frantic to get their vehicle out and it was a huge mess. Some idiot decided to completely block the entrance to our condos and the plow could not get in to plow our main driveway. We dug and dug and dug and heaved and hoed and finally managed to get the car out. We drove towards the other entrance only to find about 20 cars all over the place blocking any possible exit. We gave up needless to say.

I was exhausted and took a nap and when I woke up my friends told me they managed to dig part of my 4R out. This is what they managed to dig out:

I was like SWEET!! I climbed in through the liftgate and started her up. After she warmed up for a little bit I simply backed it out and this was the result:

It was definitely a fun time except for all the digging! It sucked that we had to leave after they just got all this snow too. We ended up staying another nite since the major highway out was pretty much blocked off. The Runner was an amazing snow machine an I cant be any happier with it!!
