Mass Air Flow sensor cleaning issue

First of all, my CEL, trac off and vsc trac lights came on. I looked all those up on here and decided to clean my MAF sensor first. So I took it out, and noticed what appears to be resin on it. I've had a K&N intake and filter on for about 120,000 miles now and have never cleaned it. Could someone tell me if this is how the sensor is supposed to look or how to clean the 'resin' off? I already bought a bottle of MAF cleaner and have sprayed a bunch on there.

This may sound strange, but make sure your gas cap is on tight and that the gasket is good. This can cause those idiot lights.

If you DO still suspect your MAF, you should be able to pick one up for under $100 at an autoparts store. Before I bought my 4th gen, the dealership wanted over $400 to replace the MAF on my 3rd gen. After a few calls, I drove over to a local O'Reillys, removed the MAF in the parking lot, bought a new MAF (with exchange) for $69 + tax, reinstalled it in their lot and off I went. Screw the dealership.
