Master cylinder cap

My hood fell and broke my myster cylinder lid. The stem that goes into the lid broke. There is no lights on and the brakes are holding fine. Local dealer will not have it until the morning. Would it be ok to drive it tomorrow then swing by to get it after work. Thoughts?

You should be fine as long as no fluid escapes when applying the brakes.

You should be fine. When you apply the brakes, the fluid level will go down, then when you release the brakes, it'll return to the original position.

It was all good. Drove it in with no issues and picked up the new cap on the way home. All new fluid.

Next up is to replace the brake calipers and brakes. I wanted to flush the brake fluid first before I swapped the calibers to keep old fluid out of the new calibers.

Sweetness, glad you got it worked out.

I still have the original calipers at 427xxx miles, and just did the seals on the rear caliper on the driver rear. These things are easy to rebuild by replacing two seals per rear caliper and four seals on the front calipers if you want to go that route. Toyota probably sells them too I bet but I got mine from NAPA, I think.
