Ughh....I have the ABS lights on for a long time now (along with the VCS lights) and finally brought it to a shop with a sophisticated enough scanner to pull code C1246 - Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor. Mechanic wants me to leave my T4R for a day or 2 so he can follow the technical write up, see if it's a wire, blah blah....2 issues, issue 1, is it's our only vehicle, and issue 2, my wife doesn't trust ANY mechanic to work on the T4R without me present and watching over them. My question, if anyone knows the answer, is:
Can the master cylinder pressure sensor (part $298.56) be replaced without having to replace the entire master cylinder (part cost $1213.40).
Also, would a bad master cylinder pressure sensor cause a burning smell?
Also have a Check Engine Light "evap leak" code. Tried changing the gas cap, didn't fix the problem. 2 different mechanics said it is most likely the vapor canister (part cost $402.25). Although it is of course possible that it might be something else.
2001 T4R Limited 4X4, with supercharger, owned since new, now with 204K miles. Done a lot of work to her over the years to keep her running and these issues are making me crazy. Also just had to replace the alternator about a month ago. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
