Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder Issue

Hello All,
I have an 88 v6 4runner. I am having clutch issues. After inspecting the hydraulic system, it was discovered that the flexible hose was visibly leaking and the slave cylinder also. I have installed new ones of each. I then bled the system. However, i can not get any pressure in the line. There is air in the line and I dont know where it is coming from. All the fittings and bolts are snug. Is it possible the metal hydraulic lines are leaking somewhere or at the fittings (where they attach to flexible piece)? Is there a way to check or isolate the leak. I dont want to have to replace the master if not necessary.

When I am bleeding the line, after the new flex tube and slave are installed, how many pumps of the peddle, while filling master, should it take to clear out all the air. I pumped at least 30-40 times and was still getting large air bubbles with every pump. I am using a bleeder jar and hose for the job.

the clutch now has very little resistance and is much worse then when I started.

Please, any help is welcome.

If there's a leak somewhere you should be able to see it.
Are you using the proper method to bleed it?
Are you keeping the MC full while you're doing it?

If the system went completely dry while you were replacing the SC, you may have to bench bleed the MC to get all the air out.

Yes I kept the MS full while bleeding.

I do see a thin steam of fluid coming from the ms at inside firewall. I was gonna fix that next, but it could not be the culprit for all the air I am getting during bleeding.

The only thing I can think of is that the new flexible hose I installed is not sealed properly at the hard line connection points, but I dont see any sepage there.

It seems to me, if you have a leak, when you release the pedal pressure it's going to suck air back in.

good point, that may be why there is no seepage, it could be leaking and then getting drawn back into the line with each pump of the peddle. Anyways, I gave up. The tow truck is on it's way to take the truck to a heated professional shop. The temperature was zero last night here in chicago and another day in the unheated garage was not sounding so promising. I will let you know what the shop decides the issue is.

I know what you mean about working in the cold. I spent the day trying to get my garage heater working so I could work on one of my trucks.
