Mat Option for 4Runners WITH Cargo System?

Hello All,

I've perused multiple threads related to all-weather cargo liner options for vehicles WITH the double-decker system, and none look very promising so far. Personally, I prefer the look of the WeatherTech system (the fitted one, NOT for DD vehicles), but not their DD offering; many people swear by the Husky brand, but I don't like how it drops off on the edges with the DD system installed. To my point: I found another website today offering something that seems to fit much better, but their image quality leaves much to be desired (no zoom of any kind). Has anyone here purchased or seen this particular liner? Pics, links, or descriptions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

One additional note: I ordered WeatherTech's all-weather mats yesterday from their website ($100 + $15 shipping, set of 4), then discovered them today on the site mentioned above for $69 + $10 shipping. Just an FYI.

I have the weathertech designed for the DD and i love it. Im able to keep all my trail gear under the shelf and haul groceries up top. Since the mat is designed to fit under the shelf it works great for me.

That actually brings up a very good question. WeatherTech lists 2 different cargo liner models for the DD 4Runner (40228 & 40229). I can clearly see that one is designed to go on top of the cargo system (smaller), and I'm assuming the other is meant to go underneath it, *except* the photo shows it with the DD system removed, so I can't tell how it would look under normal conditions... So, multipart question I guess:

1) Is this right? Am I looking at a liner that goes UNDER the DD shelf? It seems that they may have just removed the DD to show the fit.

2) Does this "under" liner have a custom fit like that of the non-DD mat?

3) Does installing this "under" liner still allow for the DD rack to be raised and lowered, or does it have to remain exclusively one way (up/down)?

#40228 was just set on top of the folded down deck. It fits better under the deck. You cannot put the deck down properly with the mat under it.

#40229 is the smaller mat that fits on the top shelf.

They are designed to be used together with the deck up.

Wow... and just like that, I can see it in the picture. I hadn't noticed that overhang on the back before. So, in your opinion, if I were only purchasing one initially, is the bigger "228" the way to go?

I have that mat and it worked well until I removed my DD cargo system and put in the cargo drawers. Now it is for sale if you're interested in gray cargo mat

They're made by Nifty products (who is owned by Lund). I used to have pics but I can't find them now and the mat is at my other place.

I have the Nifty Catchall Xtreme mats in the front and rear too, I'm satisfied with their performance. I chose them over the huskys because the huskys in my Z71 are sometimes too slippery and I wanted to try something else.

Also, Matt... appreciate the info. I looked those mats up and I didn't realize they were so thick/carpeted (125 x 125 pix image FTL). Not what I need, unfortunately, b/c I value the waterproof factor of the rubber variety. Thanks man.

Just to clarify, the Xtreme mats are not carpeted, they are rubber/plastic similar to husky and weathertech mats.

The nifty catchall Premium mats are the carpeted ones. I debated those but got the Xtreme rubber ones for the same reasons you mentioned.

They're not very thick either, like I said similar to the huskys just a little more slip resistant due to the semi rough surface
