Max tire/wheel size in spare location?

Just curious, what's the max size wheel/tire everybody has been able to fit in the stock spare location? Include tire size and hitch type. I'm hoping this will help others.

I have a KO2 275/70r17 with the heavy duty hitch and it does not fit.

I just picked up my spare KO2 275/70r17 and thought it would fit no problem because I've heard of others fitting 285s. But mine didn't even come close to fitting. I have the heavy duty hitch on mine though so I'm assuming people that do get them to fit must have the standard hitch. So now I have to figure out what to do with my spare.

I did not, is that what others are doing to get them to fit?

Does that defeat the purpose of having a spare? I guess if you have an air compressor onboard to air it back up that would be okay. But then again, I have TPMS sensors so then my light would be on.

Yes. If you are at 18 psi, it might fit and still be usable if you don't have a compressor.

I can try that but then my TPMS light will be on. I might end up just securing it inside the cab for now. Eventually I'll have a rear bumper mount. Then I can make a metal basket to go in the spare location to hold things like water/gas/firewood/parts and use the existing cable to drop it.

I'm still curious what size other people are getting to fit?

I'm curious to know these details as well.
I plan to replace all my tires with KO2 275/70r17 when the time comes. As far as I know I'v got a standard tow hitch (it's a V6 and I've never used it, so . . .)
The KO2 275/70r17 has an overall diameter of 32.2 inches, according to their spec sheet.
From what I've read, if I recall correctly, we should be able to fit a 32.5 inch, or so, tire in the spare location.

I have a 285/70/17 installed under my truck. It is not brand new, but it is inflated to 35psi. I have a v8, but mine cam with the smaller hitch.

My 32's fit with about an inch to spare. 32.2" should fit no problem. Did you snug it up against the hitch?

I can only imagine that it's the hitch I have that must make it a tighter fit. You can see the tire was pressed against the Panhard Bar and it was still overlapping the hitch. But from the photos it doesn't look like my hitch sticks back any further.

For reference the heavy duty hitch sits lower and is mounted to the outer frame vs the normal one is just mounted to the cross bar and tucked into the bumper.

Just take a tire off and test fit???

This time I actually measured the distance between the panhard bar and the back of the hitch. I measured only 31.5" so looks like it won't fit for me.
