- Gap Insurance (unless you're really upside-down at the beginning of the loan because you owed a lot on your trade-in, AND your regular auto insurance doesn't account for this)
- High interest rates
- Disadvantagous cap cost reduction, residual value, and/or money factor
What happened to the good old days when the deal was done when you only had to fight with the sales guy?
Now the finance manager is just as dangerous, if not more so!

and the leather protectant, wax protectant and basically everything else they try and sell you.
a buddy of mine bought an Infiniti G35. Talked the salesman down to what he wanted to pay, which was around 31k but after the finance man got done with him, he ended up paying 3k over sticker for pretty much nothing. 38K out the door. This did include tax, tags, and so forth too.
He got the teflon paint sealer (which would never require waxing). total BS!
Got the clear bra on the front to prvent paint chips (this was nice for the first six months until the car's black paint began to fade everwhere except where the bra covered, which was the entire front end and about 1/4 the way up the hood.
One year after he had the car, we took off the bra and waxed the car for the first time. It looks nice now, again.
He got the leather protection plan........again, total BS!
All in all, he spend about 5 grand for absolutely nothing.

I have purchase 32 cars in my lifetime, and I am in Industrial Sales, so I know all the tricks (don't use them in my end of the business) and I have seen them try it all!
To answer your question, I don't know how sharks sleep at night...do they swim in circles??
